Travis Tritt, who recently came under fire for refusing to perform at venues that enforce vaccine and mask bans, sang the National Anthem before Game Six of the National League Championship Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves.
According to MLB writer Scott Miller, the country artist sang from the stands of Atlanta’s Truist Park due to Major League Baseball’s on-field vaccine mandate for all non-players. The performance was not televised, but many who attended the game reported that Tritt was booed.
Tritt announced his appearance only 18 hours before first pitch. The team made no public notice of his participation, other than notifying the Washington Post that they would adhere to all COVID protocols when Tritt sang the anthem.

Even still, the Braves’ choice to book Tritt was widely panned. USA Today’s Dan Wolken stated prior of tonight’s game, “There’s no other way to interpret having Tritt perform the National Anthem following the run of recent media appearances he’s made.” At this point, the Braves can’t claim ignorance or ignore the political ramifications. They’re making it abundantly obvious where they stand.” Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported that Tritt’s arrest contrasted sharply with the team’s earlier initiatives, including being one of the first MLB clubs to establish free immunization clinics in its stadium.https://paypal.me/payssg?locale.x=en_US
Furthermore, the team’s standout first baseman, Freddie Freeman, suffered a particularly severe case of COVID-19, prompting him to pray, “Please don’t take me.”
Tritt stated earlier this week the cancellation of numerous future shows at venues that “mandate masks, require vaccines, or push COVID testing techniques on my audience.”
“Many individuals across the country are taking a firm position against these mandates, and I heartily support that cause,” Tritt stated in a statement. “I’ve been adamantly opposed to mandates since the beginning.” This is a cost I am ready to pay in order to defend the liberties that generations of Americans have enjoyed throughout their lives. There are many promoters and venues around the country who value fans and the freedom to choose in this beautiful country, and they are the promoters and places I will be supporting.”https://paypal.me/payssg?locale.x=en_US
